”A late Saturday night, our phone starts ringing. On the other end of the line is a despairing chief officer with a broken front tooth. The chief officer has to board ship on Sunday morning and he is at his wit’s end. We think long and hard until remembering we have the private and direct phone number for a dentist. We call the dentist immediately and make an appointment on behalf of the chief officer for early Sunday morning. The tooth gets fixed before departure and the chief officer is back at the helm smiling at the world.”
An extraordinary level of customer service
”A shipping company is in trouble. Their inspector is sick from stress and they have two vessels ready for docking. We solve the problem by offering to take on the inspector’s job for a period of time. The docking is successfully completed and eventually the inspector is able to return to his job for a couple of hours every day. Us and the inspector divide the job between them until the inspector is back on his feet again and able to handle his job full-time.”
